Saying Grace

My friend Eric decided to come over for a visit today, which was really cool. Unfortunately, he had some crazy car troubles during his drive to Kansas City, one of which included transmission fluid and finding out what happens when a car has none. Fortunately, he was able to put together a temporary fix until he can get the car looked at by a mechanic. In other news, Eric, my parents and I went out to dinner tonight and something quite interesting happened. We all said grace at the beginning of our meal and didn't think too much of it. Actually, I sometimes refrain from saying grace in public, or I keep it to myself. However, not anymore. There was another customer in the store that, after his dinner was over, came by our table.

"I just wanted to tell you," he said, "that I thought it was nice to see you do a family blessing before dinner." And then proceeded to tell us about how he thought that saying grace before meals was something that society has lost.

All I have to say is that it brightened my spirits and am glad that we all could inspire someone else to have such a realization. I am going to remember that for quite a while and say prayers of thanks to God for such a wonderful family that supports each other in their faith!
