40 Days for Life
It may be a little late for this posting as the March for Life happened back in January. I would like to call attention to all that has been happening in the news with regard to people’s attitudes about abortion and the effect it has had on our society. This year’s march had over 400,000 demonstrating in the capital. It seems clear to me that many people have realized that the original decision to legalize abortion was wrong and it needs to change. One thing that I have really found useful is a program called Romcal. It is a website that has the liturgical calendar that you can download to your computer, which includes all of the memorials and feast days of the church year. It’s pretty neat to have the ability to look at your calendar and know which saint has that feast day. I also find it useful to learn the name of different saints and a little about their lives. The hymn in the video, Vexilla Regis, was composed for a procession of a relic of the true cross as it as brought to the monastery of Saint-Croix in Poitiers. It is a gregorian chant that can be used on Good Friday when processing the blessed sacrament from the altar of repose into the church for the Good Friday service.
