In case you were wondering, my name is Nick and this is my blog. It’s my little slice of the digital world that allows me to play around and have some fun outside of my normal job.
Currently, my areas of interest extend to thinking about today’s culture, how it reacts with social media and how we, as Catholics can impact the world by leveraging all of the digital tools around us.
I am currently employed as a consultant to a local Catholic high school, doing creative development work for them. We are interested in putting together a new web platform that can help people understand the faith. The school itself is pretty technologically advanced, meaning that each student receives their own laptop for school work. The school runs exclusively on Apple computers, which allow the students to do some really cool projects.
Prior to my current job, I spent nine months in a monastery, worked as a youth minister and a computer programmer. I have programmed in Visual Basic, Java, C++ and C# in a corporate, professional environment. While I was in the corporate world, I fell in love with the SQL language and all its intricacies. I love taking some time to play with database structures when time affords.
I am a Roman Catholic and enjoy reading spiritual and theological books involving the Catholic faith. I am a big fan of Pope Benedict XVI, who is the first pope that has been elected during my lifetime..
A few technology companies I like are Garmin, Apple, Google, Facebook and Twitter. My current computer is a Macbook Pro and this blog itself runs on WordPress.
That’s about it for me.
